This thing is giving me a bloody headache! I’ve even gone so far as to draw perpendicular parallelel lines 3in away from each other, but I’m still getting 3% variations every time I do it. What gives? I’ve read the articles. I’m pinching right below the X, and taking the measurement right at the fingertips in order to minimize variation. Oh well, time to get cracking…
Ok, that was a dumb post.
I received my FatTrack II calipers. After a few hours of practice, I finally managed to “get it”. I took 5 samples. The thing is, my standard deviation is 0.7%; is this acceptable or is this crap data? I know that after a few days I’ll get the hang of this baby, and suggest it to anyone who wants to try and get the hang of using calipers. It seems like the most reliable method.
don’t worry, your not the only one. take three measurements and take the average. You the devices as a gadge, not as accurate measurement. i think the mirror and the tape measure are better. laters pk
