Is it possible to train yourself to decend faster? What would you do to accomplish this, and how would you go about it?

Depth jumps.

…And olympic lifts, such as snatches where you have to descend faster than the bar in order to catch it. Obviously the main muscle involved is the hamstrings.

Is the quicker descent a cause or effect of a higher jump?
