76 Year Old Olympic Lifter

Dramatic end to our draconian lockdown. The employee at the quarantine hotel admitted he did not pick up covid from a pizza delivery box, but because he worked shifts at a pizza restaurant with an infected person. So the deadly wasn’t deadly at all. We just have a contained cluster of 35 in one spot, and 4,000 contacts in quarantine. The state is fully open again.

Went into the boyz ‘pump up’ room, full of isolation machines, cables, and aerobic machines.
Took a ‘dead’ bar from a bench press rack, and cobbled up what i could.

this at 79, checked with strength levels cf. snippet below, however, just assumed weight is 75 kg, but i recall that you did some 20 repping breathing squats at much higher weight not that long ago

Busted! Well, aldebaran, i could argue that olympic lifters will do curls to treat elbow injuries …
Fact is, it’s just vanity.

Gee Bonobos, that was awesome of you to do that research, but i’m not that good. My bodyweight is 85 k, which i hold constant by diet control. When i did the 110k for 20, it was the end target of a several year campaign. They were done low-bar. And it was a case of ‘death or glory’.
What i am doing now with high bar a.t.g. is just a training weight [not all-out effort]. i just increase the reps on one or two sets each time. when all sets get to 12 reps, i will increase the weights by 10 k. Target is 100 k for 12 by year’s end, and 20 reps olympic deadlift with 115 k.
i will be 80 next month, so there are no guarantees of succeeding with my plans. thank you for following me all this time.

It’s been 43 degrees centigrade here on the weekend. In fact this State has been the hottest place in the world this weekend. So i have been going to the beach swimming every day. We are 500 m. from what i think is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Feel really good, but i crashed and burned on the olympic deadlift. Maybe too much sun, swim, relax. Maybe the end of easy progress.
