71 Years Ago - In Sports

On May 25, 1935, in what has to be one of the most amazing days in American sports history, legendary sports heroes Babe Ruth and Jesse Owens set iconic sports records.

In in a game in Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field against the Pirates, Babe Ruth hit the 714th and final home run of his career for the Boston Braves; also on this day, while competing at the Big Ten meet in Ann Arbor, MI, Ohio State’s Jesse Owens tied the world record for the 100 yard dash, and set world records in the long jump, 220 yard dash, and the 220 yard low hurdles – all in a span of 45 minutes.

Pretty cool. I wonder if any other day in US sports history could top those feats…
