65+ Training

8/23 new gym

warmed up hamstrings, then

deadlifts 3 x 8 @ 135, 225, 315 1 @ 335, 1 almost @ 345 (hamstring issue halfway up stopped me)
hyperextensions about 50 (helped hamstring somewhat)
dumbbell hammer curls across chest 3 x 10 w/30s 35s, 40s
walked a bit, drive to office didn’t help

Hamstring felt like it was wrestling with another tenon. Strange. Aches now, a lot.

Hammies are the worst. Just baby it a while.

This thing feels terminal. Glad to know babying it will work.

Biofreeze

You are really into ice.

keeps me off the IR

8/24 old gym

Hamstring feels infinitely better, I’m being very careful.

bench press machine 3 x 8 @ up to 180
cable flyes 3 x 10 up to about 150

triceps machine 3 x 8 @ 90, 90, 95

OG, couldn’t find any convenient ice yesterday, but lying down helped a lot. Will start doing lying leg curls again to strengthen hammies.

8/27 no gym

Hamstring feels pretty good finally. Walking normally but I’ve got a good sized hematoma on back of leg just above knee. Few more days’ rest.

8/30 still no gym

10 pullups in garage. Hematoma shrinking, occasional funny twinges.

sound like you are closing in on a gym return!..

You’re doing it right, by taking it slow.

8/31 gym resumes next week.

Crippler posting 7 handstand pushups motivated me to do 10 this morning.

Impressive handstands. I’ll add them to the things I need to do. Glad the hamstring is feeling better.

It took me a while to be a handstand believer, but I’m in now.

9/3 no gym, late night party watching LSU upsetting Miami

weekend: 10 handstand pushups, 50 pushups, 10 chin ups

Still reveling in first line. Will probably up Louisiana’s GNP.

rack pulls 3 x 10 @ 135, 225, 275
good mornings 3 x 10 w/bar only
barbell rows 3 x 10 @ 135, 185, 185
glute ham raises 3 x 20
3 pullups afterward (jeez)
Hamstring was ok today, some tingling. Just no strength.

awesome back to the gym !

10 rack pulls @275 sounds like some serious strength in the posterior chain to me…
