Tuesday 7/12 chest

warmup, then flat bench 3 x 8 @ 135, 185, 185 (225 didn’t feel good today); incline bench dumbbells 3 x 8 @ 55, 65, 70; bench press machine 3 x 8 @ 90, 180, 180, 6 half reps @ 230; cable pec work 3 x 10 @ 100.

I tried CT’s l00 rep leg presses w/70 lbs as part of warmup. Felt sufficiently foggy afterward which affected benching today. The idea of creating new capillaries in legs seems reasonable so I’ll stick with it awhile.

2 hrs later pushups 2 x 50

ouch, 100 rep leg press…I really need to find my knitting needle…knit one, purl one, knit one…

Thursday 7/14 shoulders

Warmup & l00 leg presses (w/70 lbs), then OHP 1 x 8 @ 115, 1 x 6 @ 135, 1 x 2.5 @ 155; machine shoulder presses 1 x 8 @ 90, 1 x 6 @ 180, 1 x 5 @ 180; cable presses 2 x 8 @ 85, 95, 1 x 5 @ 110; side lateral machine raises 3 x 10 @ 90, 100, 100; shrugs 3 x 10 @ 135, 225, 225 (no straps today).

more leg presses…damn… and as always some stout pressing

Saturday 7/16 back

Saturday workouts w/gym nearby. 100 rep leg presses w/70 lbs, low cable pulls 3 x 10 @ 140, 180, 220; SGHP 3 x 6 @ 135, 145, 155; lat machine pullovers (new machine) 3 x 10 @ 180, 200, 210; chest supported machine rows 3 x 8 @ 90, 90, 125.

Monday 7/18 legs and biceps

100 leg presses w/70 lbs, then squats 3 x 8 @ 135, 225, 225, (felt like “fitness model” work); other leg stations taken so biceps next. Dumbbell curls 3 x 8 @ 45, 50, 55; SLOW rope curls 3 x 10 @ 130; preacher bench w/some unknown but ample weight 3 x 8.

Early 40s couple bought the new house on our other side that we looked at 4 months ago; a pricey living room/kitchen house. Son of neighbor on my other side Friday evening returned from one of the Dallas funerals. He and one of the dead cops shared a squad car about 30 years ago and had remained friends. Then Sunday afternoon I turned on tv. Did I mention I now live in Baton Rouge? I can’t believe it’s safer in New Orleans right now.

I finally read through your log this weekend and I have a LOT of questions for you, but not enough time to write them out on this busy Monday. I hope you don’t mind satisfying my curiosity.

You are going to have tree trunks with all those leg presses. We will be waiting on pics.

Great lifting. Clearly there are prayers for everyone in Baton Rouge. In all my years I have never seen what we are witnessing. It must get better, because the streets have never been more dangerous.

Chicken Little, I already have tree trunk legs (Inner thighs have worn out bunch of nearly new pants over years) and no photos unless I enter a meet which is not likely. The l00s are for losing some 5 lbs of stubborn weight below the belt. 100s make my knee act up even with the nano weight I’m using.

Crippler, the cop presently surviving was shot twice in trunk and once in head and remains on life support almost 2 days after surgery. He was upgraded to fair condition. Life seems to be going on as usual, very odd.

Tuesday 7/19 chest & triceps

Warmup (forgot leg presses today), then bench press 1 x 10 @ 135, 1 x 6 @ 185, 1 x 4 @ 225; dumbbell flat bench 2 x 8 @ 50, 65, 1 x 6 @ 75, 1 x 8 @ 80 which felt kinda light; used bench press machine from 140 up to 230 for 8 reps; cable flyes 3 x 8 @ 100, 110, 120; tricep rope/cable overhead extensions 3 x 10 @ 130, 140, 130; tricep machine simliar to reverse preacher bench curl, 3 x 10 @ 100, 120, 140. Still good pump 2 hrs later.

I hear ya on the pants thing. I used to. A friend of mine once went to his truck and got his fire extinguisher and was following me to the truck stop. I turned around and ask him what he was doing. He said he was there for me, just in case my pants caught on fire…lol at the time I didn’t take it as a compliment. I might now though.

And yes, the situation with all this hate is worse than I can ever remember. Used to know some damn good people from those parts. Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans.

I can only imagine that after rep 50 or so those leg presses really burn. And I as well have the inner thigh rub which I affectionately call ‘chub rub’.

Haircut instead of workout today.

My barber also cuts cops’ hair. He said Sunday shooter had an Israeli made weapon their army uses and runs about $2500 if one can be found. Same bullets as typical assault rifle with sort of a machine gun magazine and laser pointer. After police sniper got the shooter with a head shot, the police found somewhat extensive weaponry in shooter’s rented car.

warmup, leg presses 100 reps @ 70; pull ups 2x 4, been awhile; OHP 2 x 6 @ 115, 135, 1 x 4 @ 155, 1 x 3 @ 165; shoulder machine presses 3 x 8 @ 90, 180, 180, 1 x 3 @ 230; presses w/cables 3 x 8 @ 70, 90, 100; machine lateral raises 3 x 8 @ 90, 100, 100; shrugs 4 x 10 @ 135, 225, 315, 405.

Pullups 1 x 8, 1 x 7 (changed hand position); deadlifts w/trap bar 1 x 10 @ 135, 1 x 6 @ 225, 1x8 @ 315; low pulley rows 2 x 10 @ 140, 210, 1 x 8 @ 240; machine pullovers 3 x 10 @ 150, 180, 210; SGHP (forgot to do these earlier in workout) 2 x 8 @ 135, 1 x 6 @ 145.

What? No leg presses? The knee must not be happy today.

ChickeLittle, I forgot to do them Saturday, so I did this morning. Knee hurt regardless.

Monday 7/25 legs/biceps

Warmup, also leg press 1 x 100 @ 90; hack squats (squat area taken) 3 x 10 @ 225, 315, 405; eventually, squats 2 x 8 @ 135, 225, 1 x 6 @ 245; dumbbell curls 3 x 8 @ 45, 50, 55; rope curls 3 x 10 @ 130; preacher machine curls 3 x 8 @ 90.
