5/3/1 Upper Body Power Idea

Hey guys,

im a rugby player following Wendler’s 5/3/1, loving it so far.

Jim says its a good idea doing power cleans before deadlift and squat sessions, so I thought it would be a similar idea to do strength-speed type stuff before bench and press.

I was hoping to get an opinion on adding push presses, jerks, med ball throws, speed bench, or whatever before the bench and overhead press sessions.

I know he says not to worry about this type of work for upper body particularly, but I think this is a valid point.

Just do some chest/overhead medicine ball throws to get you ready for the 531 work.
