5/3/1 Advice: Coming Back from Illness

I have recently taken 6 weeks of my 5/3/1 program due to illness and then holiday and xmas etc.

I am now back in my first week of training and am really struggling to even lift the prescribed reps of the program i was doing before my break, for example today i was doing 3 x 5 military press ad on my last set only pushed out 4!!!

I’m just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and wether i should lower my 1RM’s for this cycle or just battle through this 1 cycle and by the time the next one comes around i should be back to where i left of??

I read over the 5/3/1 program briefly, so correct me if I’m wrong, but when you can’t complete a cycle, do you not drop weight and build back up? That being said maybe just jump a cycle or two back and work forward from there. This should give your body enough time to catch up, yes?

Go back a couple of cycles and build up some momentum, youll regain your strength soon enough.
