While I DO sincerely appreciate your son’s service you ARE missing something here.

Geopolitics, it’s worth looking at in my informed opinion and Dick Cheney, who has no current control or influence in Afghanistan by the way (read the newspaper once in awhile and you’ll come to the distinct conclusion that he hasn’t been in office for some time now - the “doves” have), and his ties to Halliburton don’t have much to do with the Afghan war.

Yes, Brown and Root - a construction company subsidiary - does have government contracts for building military infrastructure in Afghanistan but the war you were looking to whine about is in Iraq. That’s where the oil is.

So your “history opinion” certainly does look stupid from here.

I think he was using Cheney pars pro toto.

That and the fact that Cheney undoubtedly has his hand in whatever financial cookie-jar that makes this mountain of skulls possible.

Nobody on this forum, and I mean nobody, is dumber than a sack of rocks than the guy who thinks the reason the US is in Afghanistan, and stays there, is because of Dick Cheney.

You HAVE to be batshit conspiratorialist crazy to believe that looney bin theory.
Well I think that the US empire runs on an interesting little twist to the usual Empire game.

Instead of plundering a country and carrying off gold and slaves, which is no longer feasible, the machine sucks the own population dry via taxes by coming up with one flimsy excuse for a war after another.

So, on a scale of 1 to 10 how dumb does that make me.

I didn’t say that was the reason for staying.

I am saying him and people like him get rich on the mountains of skulls produced in the ME.

Your “thinking” has got you into lots of trouble before, Joe. Wisdom must accompany knowledge before knowledge manifests itself as useful.

While I know defeating the Taliban - which incidentally was/is located in Afghanistan and housed the rectal tissue that caused the 9/11 attacks - justified the US invasion, to a certain extent you are correct. The US has not been the plundering empire of yore. We have carried on our “excursions” to genuinely better the world AND to protect US interests in a global economy (Gulf War in the 90s, Iraq War this past 10 years).

Had this not been the case the US CERTAINLY could “have carried off the gold and slaves” by colonizing Iraq, Kuwait, etc. and taking its gold, i.e., oil. That didn’t happen or oil would be selling for $20 barrel or less.

Well, you got it half right so I give you a 4. That’s a 5 minus one for failing to use a question mark at the end of your sentence. 10 being “undumb” and 1 being super dumb.
Well thats disappointing, you seem to have an additional smart scale on top of the dumb scale.

Also, what the US military tries and what is sold to the public can hardly be the same, for that would be the very first time in history that that ever happened, as someone with your wisdomicity and sagitosity is certainly bound to know.

Also, you need funds and cannon fodder for this whole schtick and as you seem to have noticed “yay, lets make Cheney a few millions” is not an effective battle cry at all.

Face it, they did not entirely get you with the “solidarity” and soft socialism angle, like they did in most European nations, but they hella got you with the USA, USA stuff.

Really does not matter, as along as you pay for every brain fart the Pentagon will ever have, thank you.

I’m sorry to say you are an ignorant man.
You’re sorry to say that?
Well, I like to compliment when I can. But on these boards it’s really, really tough to do.

10 being really smart and 1 being dumb regarding what America is and how it works…Hmm I’d give you maybe a 1 on a good day.

You sure told him.

The conservobot firmware has its limits, but I am told it is sufficiently powerful in its natural environment.

And you’re no better on that specific topic. A 1 for you too.

As if this should matter to a citizen of Austria? Try to contain your jealousy, save up your money and someday you too can live in the greatest country the world has ever known (if Obama doesn’t wreck it before you get here).

They signed up for it, as much as I signed up for it. We all know that there is a chance of not coming home, I mean- it is war, people get killed. Unfortunate for those men, but I can’t see why they making such a big deal out of it. There is men dying every day down there and you don’t hear about that…
