3-Hour Oral Glucose Test Result

#1

Hi,

today I went to the doctor to have 3 hours oral glucose test done. First draw was fasting, the second was 1 hour after 100g glucose, then 2 hours and 3 hours. I will have their results in few days. However, I was using glucose meter to compare the results.

Here are the results I got with glucose meter
Fasting 82 mg/dl
100g glucose solution
30 min after I finished 100g glucose 175 mg/dl
60min 170mg/dl
90min 150 mg/dl
120 min 145 mg/dl
150 min 120 mg/dl
180min 63 mg/dl

Can anybody evaluate my result and explain whether the numbers are normal or abnormal. I am just curious what my result means so far based on my measurements. Thank you very much

Levels will of course peak above fasting. Otherwise, this is not familiar territory for me. But results look good VS what I was able to quickly find.

Your meter may not produce the same numbers as the lab work.

At 1 hour, your results are good 170 vs 180
At 2 hours, 145 VS 140 does not seem alarming.

“”"""""""""""""

Fasting plasma glucose (measured before the OGTT begins) should be below 6.1 mmol/L (110 mg/dL). Fasting levels between 6.1 and 7.0 mmol/L (110 and 125 mg/dL) are borderline ("impaired fasting glycaemia"), and fasting levels repeatedly at or above 7.0 mmol/L (126 mg/dL) are diagnostic of diabetes.
A 1 hour OGTT glucose level below 10 mmol/L (180 mg/dL) is considered normal.[11][12]
A 2 hour OGTT glucose level below 7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dL) is normal, whereas higher glucose levels indicate hyperglycemia. Blood plasma glucose between 7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dL) and 11.1 mmol/L (200 mg/dL) indicate "impaired glucose tolerance", and levels above 11.1 mmol/L (200 mg/dL) at 2 hours confirms a diagnosis of diabetes.

Just thinking is there any example how different numbers can be when measuring with glucometer vs blood withdraw. Just curious how space out the numbers are when using the two methods. Lets say my fasting was 82mg/dl using glucometr. What is usually the blood work number? How far from glucometer, more or less?

Hi Got back my blood test result from 3 hr OGTT.

Name Value Reference Range
GLUCOSE, FASTING 75 65-94 mg/dL
GLUCOSE, 1 HOUR 127 <180 mg/dL
GLUCOSE, 2 HOUR 122 <155 mg/dL
GLUCOSE, 3 HOUR 44 <140 mg/dL
COMMENT

How come blood withdraw test result was different from my glucometer. i just cant belive the results differ so much. The follow are results taken from glucometer
Fasting 82
1 hr 170mg/dl
2 hr 145 mg/ dl
