24/03/07 Comp + Few Lifts

24th March 2007: Crystal Palace Comp

Weigh in : 84.25Kg! TF?! My scales were showoing 84.4Kg this morning after
my cutting. 85.0Kg last night. Dropped a further 0.6Kg during my sleep.
Sleeping was rough being so dehydrated…woke up at 3:10am and struggled
getting back to sleep.

Going to cut properly next time. Do some low level cv along with keeping my
hurdling up. It was horrible in the sauna and mentally draining to make
weight. But I made weight:)

Snatch

Picked up the bar, felt light biggrin.gif

warm ups:
bar work
40kg x 2reps ; easy
50kg x 1rep ; easy
60kg x 1rep ; bit behind, but saved it
70kg x 1rep ; easy
80kg x 1rep ; easy
90kg x 1rep ; easy
100kg x 1rep ; easy
110kg x 0rep ; didn’t pull, didn’t get under fast, didn’t attack the bar = fail lift

Coach wanted to open less but I’m stubborn and wanted 115Kg to open

Snatch Comp lifts
1: 115Kg PASS slammed, it, easy, felt fast under the bar, decent finish

2: 118 FAIL felt good off the floor, went behind, need to stay more over the
bar.

3: 120Kg FAIL felt good off the floor, attacked it well, held on to it a bit
longer then the 118. Went behind, need to stay over the bar more.

Now to forget about the Snatch’s and get my head around to the C&J

Clean and Jerk

warm ups
50kg x 1rep
70kg x 1rep
85Kg x 1rep
100kg x 1rep
110kg x 1rep
120kg x 1rep
Couldn’t be bothered to do the 130Kg in the warm up.

C&J Comp lifts
1: 137Kg FAIL ; Clean felt easy, Dip and drive of the Jerk wasn’t bad but it
was in front = crash to the floor

Dry heaving in the warm up area, not feeling great.
2: 137Kg FAIL; followed myself, felt tired, Clean felt good, Jerk was closer
and it went behind. Close but not enough…rubbish

Up it to 140Kg to give myself a longer rest, risky, all or nothing here…
3: 140Kg PASS ; huge pressure lift…f0cking 'ave it! Bar didn’t feel too
heavy off the floor, dived under, kind of crushes me (doesn’t look too bad
in the videos), f0ck it I was going to get up no matter what and not let the
bar beat me. Set set set myself for the dip and drive. Give it everything.
Slam the bar up, it locks out easily, it’s in front a bit, it starts to land on me
heavy, back foot really fighting and I feel my knee pinning towards the floor,
fight it and rush, recovered it, fight it again, nearly went behind after twinkle toes
recovery. Not ideal but it got up there and stayed up there. f0cking 'ave
it. I’ll take this and work on it in training smile.gif

Snatch: 115Kg (+2Kg)
C&J: 140Kg (+7Kg)
Total: 255Kg (+12Kg)

I qualified for the English Champs but sadly missed out on the British for
this year. I needed 260Kg.

I’ll be more conservative on the starting weights of the C&J next time :stuck_out_tongue: but plan on entering on 120Kg on the Snatch

A few training lifts from a month ago.

Hang Snatchs:

Good job with the competition. How old are you?

Sweet lifts bro. Good job on the C&J!

Awesome job man.

Nice lifts mate. Good luck with future comps.

It’s a shame that when a board member does something truly outstanding and something 99% of the people here couldn’t do barely anyone says anything.

But when some internet warrior starts a flame war it gets a million views!!

That’s true!

I guess the reason is that it is difficult to critique the vids… but if someone is squatting and their face is angled towards the floor a bit much, everyone jumps on them!

Nice lifting Koing!! That is a PR C&J right? That is a ballzy jump to 140kg too!

Koing, u are a freak!! :P… but a very devoted freak!

255 is SICK!! It was unfair to miss the 120 snatch…
would expect maybe even a 150kg CJ., with that huge snatch…

Nice job at the competition Koing. Nice to see your hard work paying off.

Solid lifts man !

Awesome!

I just recently worked my olympic lifting after spending a lot of time on mostly powerlifting, I felt like a little girl.

You’re a beast, dude.

I dont know much about olympic lifts but that was awsome!

I think when I start hitting on the 135/155 that’ll be sweet!

120/140 are roughly the correct ratios according to this calculator.

Definately. Previous Comp PB was 133Kg but that was at 86.55Kg also.

Definately. Trained really hard the past 6months pretty solid, missing very few sessions. The last 4 weeks of training sessions were brutal.

You’ll get a lot better at the OLifts. Just be patient and work technique a bit longer and then you can just work on getting faster and stronger then you’ll rock the big weights easily.

Going to go easy tonight and not go too heavy. I’ll max out my front squat on Wednesday and see what I’ll get. I’m hoping for 150Kg.

Koing

Congratulations, mate! Well done. We need more of this stuff on T-Nation.

Congrats. Those are impressive numbers.

Suprised myself today.

Back Squat 180Kg, missed 185 and 182 :stuck_out_tongue: then Front Squat 150Kg, failed 152Kg :stuck_out_tongue:

+20Kg on the Back squat and 7.5Kg on the Front Squat.

Koing

Impressive lifting Koing! Way to go.

I really appreciate the critiques you give to others on their lifting programs and videos. Thanks for your contributions. I’ll have to to post some videos soon.

Keep up the good work.

Awesome vids! keep up the great work.
