Going to put up a video from yesterday of just the squat section. Changed my mind about the comp I’m going to do it take what I get on squat and hit some good numbers for bench and deadlift.
Hit a new best today with close grip bench but took everything else light
Close grip went
135x10, 225x8, 275x4, 315x1, 350x1
absolutely flew 3/4 to lock out then a got pretty slow.
Back held up today for a 2 rep pr on squat with 405. And beltless. Decline went pretty good too
Squat went
135x10, 225x8, 315x3, 405x12- previous best was 10 beltless and 9 belted.
Decline was after so was still slightly out of breath and tired from that squat set
135x10, 225x8, 275x4, 325x1, 375x2, 405x1.
Would really like to be able to pull off a big squat at the comp but well see how it goes. I’d be happy with anything over 550. Body weight is right at 185. So if I keep it there I won’t lose any strength from that small cut
Lifts just sucked today. Legs were tired for deads so think that played a role. Puling without straps now grip is no problem but need to work on tightness griping over under. My goal for this comp is to get a better total than my comp 7 months ago (1500). Not sure if I’ll be 100% power wise but well see how it goes.
After working all day and hitting the gym my back was still tight but not much pain. Hit some heavy to me leg press up to 12 plates per side for a set of 4. Want to use that to keep some of the intensity in my training since I cant hold much more than 405 on my back right now. Lost some power on deads but hopefully I’ll get everything figured out and working in the next few weeks. Worked up to 365 on bench with a healthy pause moved slow but went.
Not much today just heavy leg press and kettle bell bench 3 sets of 15 with 32kg per side. Going to see how I feel tomorrow possibly squat up to 475-485 beltless triple. That may actually be a best beltless since I normally wear it after 405. See how it goes might belt up
Taking it slow back. Didnt lift yesterday, today I really only hit feet up bench so the excessive arch didn’t aggravate my back. It seems to heal up and I don’t have much pain unless I put weight on my back. Im going to ask in the rehab forum. But any way heres my sets on bench no leg drive. Video is up
135x10, 225x8, 275x6, 315x4, 340x2
don’t know what happened on the second rep with 340. It wasn’t heavy but came off the chest and stalled and I started laughing and grinded it up. Very odd rep.
Some light sumo deadlift today and close grip band bench
Sumo pulls were
135x10, 225x10, 315x20 - this was ridiculously easy but got out of breath, normally I stop from getting tight. Going to slowly work my way up to see what I can hit.
Close grip Band bench was light as well
135x10, 165x10, 185x10, 205x8.
Hit some more sumo pulling a bit heavier. Its too hard to go light when deadlift doesn’t bother it. Also hit flat bench with feet on the bench and kettle bell bench
Deadlift went
135x10, 225x10, 315x10- paused 2-3" off floor. 365x6 paused, 365x9 paused
Flat bench went
135x10, 225x8, 275x4, 315x4, 345x1- paused.
Kettle bell bench was 28kg per side for 10,12,18 reps
Today was just a shit day missing 365x2 on bench and some 135 conventional pulls not worth the time writing about. Will probably be pulling 455 max paused reps sumo tomorrow
I’m sure it’s disappointing to not be on top of your game, but I think if you take a figurative step back and look at what you’ve already accomplished, you’ll see what the people following your log see. Smashing weights, superior drive, and seriously aggressive training sessions. I have no doubt that you’ll be back on top in no time after giving yourself proper healing time. I don’t think you’ve got it in you to fail.
