This is my friend and sometimes coach Willie Albert. He simply has the best squat and deadlift technique I’ve ever seen. He’s kade Webers coach, that 22 year old that totalled 2000. Willie primarily will experiment in his off season with different loading paramaters, but doesn’t stray from the core lifts and does light assistance work, then peaks for meets using the extended russian power routine. He’s been doing this for years.
I don’t exactly know Willies training history, but he started as a weightlifter, then moved into powerlifting, I know he’s done all the sheiko routines, but mostly tinkers with russian power, ie sometimes he’ll do it with chains, sometimes he’ll pull from a box, etc etc.
Willie is an all around athlete and can excel in crossfit, he can do muscle ups with ease and iron crosses and all that stuff. He’s a super freak.
I wanted to show him slam dunking this 550 squat at 181.
This is him pulling 727 at 181, he didn’t get the lift, but he should have.
And this is my favorite squat Willie has ever done. I’ve never seen such focus before, he’s completely calm and ready to do what he’s gotta do. He’s wearing knee wraps so not totally raw, and he squatted 625ish in competition after this.
And this is Willie squatting 405x18… that’s just nutso. The crazy part is when he did this, he’d taken time off lifting to let injuries heal and was focusing on crossfit.
If you guys have any questions, I’ll do my best to ask Willie and see if he’ll answer them
