Supposedly paul anderson could squat 900+, and as far as I know steroids weren’t known/common back then.

Is it possible? Sure. It’s also conceivable to bench 800 raw or to pull 1100 raw. None have been done yet though, and would probably require someone with Lebron-James-like athletic gifts for powerlifting, and MJ’s drive applied to powerlifting.

Robert Wilkerson hit 1000, but he had wraps and it was in SPF. My completely unfounded guess is that at some point in the next 30-40 years someone squats 1000 to depth without knee wraps. But as the saying goes “there are many drug tested meets, but no drug free meets.” So your “no steroids or performance drugs” qualifier will really never be answered.

More money goes into the Tour de France each year than goes into every powerlifting meet on the planet over the course of a year, and they still handed Lance 7 straight titles.

each generation is stronger than the previous due to the natural trend. so yes, it is a positive topic with only time matters, could be in next 20 years or 40 years.

No. Anyone who thinks you can squat 1000lbs natty is a moron. Wilkerson has done a 1000lb raw squat kind of…

You will see a legitimately deep 1000lb raw squat in the near future. In fact I believe we will finally see one man hit 1000lbs on both the squat and deadlift in a raw meet. But you’re an idiot if you think anyone will do it without steroids.

In the distant future it could conceivably be done without “steroids”, but you would be using something better in their place; i.e. gene therapy or something of the sort.

YES, and that man will be csulli aka The Squat Phenom.

Well, Ray Williams seems to be getting there - not sure what he is taking. He lifted in the USAPL and they do some testing…

Lol. This is the other side of the spectrum of people who think that all the guys in WSM are drug-free. I don’t think anyone can say that it is IMPOSSIBLE for someone to squat a grand without drugs. Now, the individual doing it would have to have a host of qualities - genetics, mental makeup to do something that’s probably never been done, have some objection to taking steroids, and have some desire to put a tremendous amount of effort into something that will result only in personal satisfaction, not money, fame or whatever - such that it would be exceedingly rare. One in a million? A hundred million?

But the longer I’m around strength sports the more unbelievable stuff I see and the more I realize is possible.

But this thread title is at the top of the sub-forum, basically polluting it. She actually brings up an excellent question, seeing as the OP isnt squatting 1k raw, drug free or otherwise, and neither is anyone else on the thread. Buckeye Girl is one of the few people on this site who actually competes, so I think she can voice her opinion

The natural trend?

Do explain, please.

Nonono squat is my worst lift. I’m more of a rack pull specialist. That’s why I plan to start my own sport and federation for Traplifting in which the competition lifts are a rack pull (pins set as high as possible of course) and a power shrug.

I have been following Ray for a long time though. I know he’ll hit 1000 one of these days. His deadlift has been improving a lot too.

I’m sure it’s possible, though extremely difficult, but why? If someone can squat that well, think of the records and ridiculous numbers they could hit with AAS - the type of person likely to have the drive to reach such a level tends also to accept PEDs as a way of pushing the boundaries even further.
No lifter has ever or could ever reach their full potential - there will always be something to improve. With squats around 800-900 already, I think it is quite achievable within the next 20 years or so.

I’m all for big squats…I just don’t see the point of this discussion. The thread looks to me like a good place for people to get all worked up and debate a bunch of hypotheticals but not really get anywhere. A lot of things are possible but they don’t all make for the most productive or educational discussions. I happen to think this question is dumb.

And KBC competed** I don’t have any plans to compete in PL again soon. Now my training mostly revolves around moving heavy ass weight for 3-8 reps, bitching about how my ATG squats weren’t deep enough and chasing dat pump. (Unfortunately, I’m only half kidding about the last part). I even have an arm day.

quietly sits and waits for the PL police to find out that I’m a poser and boot me from the subforum

USAPL athlete, first meet in USAPL so was most likely tested.

That being said, you guys need to stop worrying about limitations. No one knows what the human body is fully capable of. I think it is absolutely possible for a natty SHW to achieve a 1000 squat in the future.

well clearly he does, what a dumb ass comment.

I Have seen ray Williams do 906 or 905 and it looked easy he said in an interview that he would Have attempted 1,000 they just tan out of 100lbs plates
